Dornbirn is a small but lively and multifaceted city with character situated in the border triangle. Dornbirn is embedded in a cultural, widely varied region between Lake Constance and the Alps.
The city is located at the edge of the east Alps. Attractive and cosy cafés in the heart of the town invite you for strolling and relaxing in the historic district of Dornbirn. In the market place the farmer’s market takes place every Wednesday and Saturday. Regional products of any kind such as full flavoured and aromatic cheese of the mountain which is well-known in this region are being offered.

The best view over the city and the region is provided from Dornbirn’s local mountain called Karren with its height of 976 meters. Real sportsman can climb up the hill on foot in approximately one hour. You can also take the modern cable car that brings you up on the top. Enjoy the magnificent view over the city, the surrounding landscape, the capital city Bregenz und the Lake Constance. A panorama restaurant nearby the top station invites you to relax and enjoy the most impressive view of the area.
Culture for everyone
In Dornbirn you will find a great number of museums such as the Rolls Royce-Museum for fancier of cars, the Christmas Nativity Mangers Museum or the innovative Natural History Museum “inatura”.
Pure nature
Friends of hiking are really spoilt for choice. The Rappenloch Gorge just a short walk back into the mountains near the city will take you off into a world of discovery and fascination. If you look out for a real challenge try to climb up the mountains “Mörzelspitze” or even “Hoher Freschen” which has a height of 2000 metres.

Dornbirn offers a wide variety of recreational activities. You can exercise a lot of different sports. For instance, try out the family friendly indoor swimming pool called “Das Stadtbad” in the centre of Dornbirn, the outdoor pool “Waldbad Enz” or take an open air bath in the valley of “Dornbirner Ach”.
