The region Vorarlberg

Vorarlberg is the most western part of Austria. Due to its small size it is tenderly called „Ländle“. Vorarlberg is located amidst Germany, Switzerland, Principality of Liechtenstein and Tyrol.

Vorarlberg impresses very much by its extraordinary variety of landscapes. The distance from the riverside of Lake Constance right up to the glaciers of Silvretta is only 90 kilometres. The region is internationally known for its alpine world. Three quarters of the land area are covered with mountains reaching heights up to more than 3.000 metres. No wonder that hiking and skiing are the most popular leisure activities of our guests and local inhabitants.

Cultural diversity

Not only the nature but also urban areas are worthwhile for a trip to Vorarlberg. The capital city Bregenz is only a few kilometres away from Dornbirn and is situated directly at the Lake Constance. You are invited to amble along the lakeside promenade and take a look at the architectural highlights like the festival hall with its impressive open-air stage which was setting for the latest James Bond film. A visit of the prestigious house of art or a walk through the historic city is highly recommended.

Medieval atmosphere

South of Bregenz and Dornbirn you will find Feldkirch the second largest city of Vorarlberg. Feldkirch has a special medieval atmosphere with its scenic historic city. The Schattenburg castle is very imposing and a narrow lane leads down to the inner city. Many shops and cafés welcome you to spend some time in this beautiful and historic city. The market street in the centre of the town was also scene for the latest James Bond film “Quantum of Solace”.
